In the run up to the launch of the new 2016/17 badminton season this September at Galway Lawn Tennis Club, we are 'upping-the-ante' for our upcoming 'Club Nights'! This is the perfect opportunity to come down and try out badminton, even if you've never even held a racket before!
Although we would love for you to bring all your friends, you don't need to bring anyone or know anyone there already, there will be plenty of friends to be made at the club and you don't need to be fit either! Badminton can be played by literally anyone of any ability, age, fitness level etc so if you've been hesitating to come down, now's your chance and this is your sign!
The cost for two hours of friendly games is €10 for non-members* and €4 for members of GLTC. If you don't have a racket, we have plenty of spares you can loan for no additional cost! A member of our committee will be there to answer any questions and organise the games, ensuring a balanced and fun evening.
So if the Olympics haven't convinced you to get back into a sport, maybe the harsh weather and endless rain can entice you into our nice warm hall for an evening of fun doubles games and friendly banter!
Our beginners season starts tonight so come on down, badminton at GLTC could be your calling!

Don't Forget Social Tennis Tomorrow from 11am-1pm!!
Social Tennis consists of friendly doubles, providing each player with a variety of games. Players of any standard may take part, although a very inexperienced player may prefer some coaching and practice first. Social Tennis is organised by a member of the coaching team who place players onto courts to play doubles, ensuring they have good, balanced games. Players are mixed into different groups every 25 – 30 minutes.

Galway Lawn Tennis Club is spread over three acres of ground in the scenic heartland of Salthill, overlooking Galway Bay. The club itself is over 100 years in operation and is widely known throughout the county and Ireland as a centre of excellence specializing in racket sports.

Tennis, Squash and Badminton are all actively played throughout the year by our members. As the Galway Lawn Tennis Club is a members club, we continuously strive to be an open community that welcomes new members. Furthermore, external social gatherings are very high on our agenda as we believe all sport and no-play makes us all far too serious.

Awards

Galway Lawn Tennis Club is the 2014 Winner of the prestigious Badminton Ireland Club of the Year Award for its outstanding contribution to the growth and progress of the sport in Ireland. In addition, GLTC was also the 2002 Winner of Irish Tennis Club of the Year, and in 2006 we were finalists in the same category.
